How to prepare for an interview in the week before
Interview preparation works better when you spread it over a few short sessions. The aim is not to memorise every answer; it is to arrive with useful examples, a clear story, and enough spoken practice that the first question does not feel like a shock.
Days 7–5: understand the role and build your examples
Read the job description slowly and highlight the skills that appear more than once. Then choose three stories from your experience that can prove several of those skills. Good examples are reusable when you change the emphasis.

Days 4–2: practice out loud and invite follow-ups
Start with the questions that set the tone: tell me about yourself, why this company, and your strongest example. Record yourself or practice with a realistic interviewer. Silent rehearsal hides the places where an answer gets too long.
After each practice session, change one thing only. A sharper opening, a clearer action, or a concrete result is enough. Small retakes make answers sound natural.
- Practice 20 minutes at a time.
- Answer one question, then take one follow-up.
- Retake the least clear answer immediately.
- Keep a short list of the evidence you want to remember.
Day 1 and interview day
The day before, avoid cramming new stories. Check the interview format, test your technology, plan your journey, and review your opening lines. On the day, take a short pause before answering; a considered first sentence is better than a rushed one.
- Confirm time zone, names, location, and video link.
- Bring two thoughtful questions for the interviewer.
- Review your three strongest examples, not every note.
- Use a pause, then answer the question directly.
